The connection of a firefighter water hose involves two main processes: setting it up and recycling it. This includes connecting hose to hose, attaching the water hose to the water gun, and linking the water hose to the fire hydrant. Additionally, proper use of the water gun is also crucial. Firefighters need to complete the steps of throwing, connecting, and discharging water from the fire hose within one minute. Moreover, they should observe the fire – extinguishing effects of different types of nozzles.
One – Hand Hose Laying Methods and Requirements
Initial Grip
First, grasp the rolled hose with your right hand. Use your thumb and index finger to pinch the outer two circles, with the joint facing forward. Then, hook the third and fourth circles of the hose with your other three fingers.
Throwing Motion
Next, position your left foot in front and your right foot behind. Bend down and gently swing the hose back and forth, ensuring the swing isn’t too large. After that, throw the water cone forward. While throwing the hose, keep your thumb and index finger firmly holding the outer two circles of the hose, and keep the other three fingers straight. As a result, the fire hose will roll forward.
Completion Criteria
Once thrown, the hose should form a straight line and fully expand. It should land within 1 meter of the direct – ahead range, neither deviating too far to the left nor the right. Importantly, when throwing the hose, make sure the metal connector doesn’t hit the ground.
